Do people seriously still use phone books? There's about a trees worth of paper bagged in plastic sitting in front of my building promising to hold valuable information about my city, buried between a billion useless ads. Not that Google couldn't provide me with the same info in a fraction of the search time. Plus I don't even have to get up from my seat. Not to mention the fact that trees shan't suffer because of my search efforts.
Who's responsible for this? It really needs to stop.
Sorry this is my first post in months. You may have been expecting something more but...whatever.

I called QwestDex last year to ask them to quit sending me phone books because we never use them. They go straight into our recycling bin and have for years now. When I called, the lady on the other end of the phone had no clue what to do with me though. After much hemming and hawing, she finally forwarded me to their distribution company (contractor), but that # in reality ended up being the # you would call if YOU wanted to help distribute the phone books. Um, No. I want them to stop delivering to ME. ARGH. So I called QwestDex back and the next person, again, had no idea why I would be making such a request. But they finally told me they would put a "note" on my account or something like that.
Now, one year and at least 10 pounds worth of new delivered phone books later, I don't think they really did anything with my request.
I suppose I should call them back again, but I don't think it would do any good. What a waste. I would be tempted to think that most people of our generation who have embraced technology would have to feel similar to me about phone books. Maybe we should start a revolt or something against the phone book industry. hehe. :-)
Well kudos for taking it a step further and actually taking action against this absurd situation Amber.
In a tragic way, that is humorous.
i recently heard of someone using a dictionary too....strange. i didn't realize there was anything other than google.
